Get Ready To Fish Key West!

Greetings from Key West! Hello from Capt. Tony Murphy with Key Limey Charters.  Thank you for your interest in my Key West Fishing Report and Fishing in Key West and the lower keys!

The summer weather is here. This week the forecast is calling for winds from 6 to 30 mph. Monday through Wednesday are calling for northeasterly to easterly winds in the 6 to 12mph range. Thursday through Sunday there is a front rolling in, and the winds are jumping up to the 20- 30 mph range. The forecast is calling for a mix of sun and clouds with some spotted showers the rest of the week.

The weather is looking good early in the week. There is front that is supposed to be moving in late Wednesday evening through Sunday. The winds will be the 6 to 30mph range most of the week.

aptains have been reporting groups of Juvenile Tarpon, with some bigger fish mixed in with the right conditions.  Bone fish have been a pleasant surprise with many fish being caught as the water temps rise. Look to find most Bones active on a tide change later in the day when the suns had a chance to warm the shallows up. Permit have still been slow this time of year. There have been some permit around, but as always they can be picky and elusive.

Practice, practice, practice. There is no such thing as being too ready or dialed in. Pay attention to the all the details. Little differences can make the difference between a good and great day. Keep a good perspective and remain patient. Remember any day fishing beats a day at work.

The large Cudas are still out on the flats even with the warming water. These guys are a great challenge on fly or light spin gear. Remember to get the fly moving fast to get their attention. They love live bait! Wishing everyone tight lines and fish boatside!

Wishing everyone tight lines and fish boatside!!

Offshore there have been a great variety of fish being caught. Snapper and grouper have been the normal culprits on the bottom.

There have been a mix of Wahoo, with some Kings, Barracudas, Bonita, and the Mahi’s have arrived.

As always wishing you tight lines and fish boat side from Capt. Tony Murphy!
